Key Beltway Media Provide Insights on Healthcare Reporting

At the DHPA Winter Board Meeting, we convened a panel of DC-based, health care reporters who share with our Board Members how they decide to cover stories and what health care policy trends they are seeing.  Participants included Jayne O’Donnell of USA Today, David Pittman of POLITICO and John Wilkerson of Inside Health Policy.

These veteran journalists engaged our members in a lively discussion about covering healthcare policy as issues are debated and move through the U.S. House and U.S. Senate on Capitol Hill and as decisions are made within administrative agencies. They also shared tips on how to best interact with journalists and become a trusted and valuable resource in their news reporting.

The meeting was a great introduction for our members to three influential members of the media and a tremendous opportunity to engage them in conversations about our efforts to preserve accessible, high quality and cost-efficient care in the independent GI medical practice setting.
