12:30 pm – 1:30 pm: An Invitation to Lead from Your Core: Be More!

DHPA is excited to have Theo Michael Theodosiou joining us as our keynote speaker to present on the topic of leadership and culture in independent medical practices. Mr. Theodosiou, the founder of THEO Executive Group, newly rebranded as theo Transformation Advisory, has devoted his career to elevating the impact of healthcare and adjacent industries. Mr. Theodosiou will share his observations on how, in the current, challenging healthcare environment, it is easy to get lost in the ever-shifting game of HOW to survive and prosper. Mr. Theodosiou will explain that it is not the HOW that will distinguish your practices but staying true to your WHY. Mr. Theodosiou will speak on the topic of “legacy” for your practices that extends beyond improving patient lives, focusing on two lessons – becoming better business leaders and becoming developers of a culture that invites the best in your people.

1:30 pm – 1:45 pm: Break

1:45 pm – 2:45 pm: The Next Generation of Independent GI Practice Leaders

Members of the DHPA Next Generation Leadership Committee will offer their perspective on how independent GI practices can best prepare younger physicians to take on leadership roles in their practices, communities, and medical societies. This session will also draw on the experiences of more “senior” medical practice leadership in fostering the next generation of independent GI leaders.

2:45 pm – 3:45 pm: State Health Policy Committee (Kaptik, Rubin)

DHPA Chair of Health Policy, Dr. Steven Kaptik, and DHPA legal counsel, Howard Rubin, will report on state legislative issues that could have a significant impact on patient access to high-quality, cost-efficient care furnished in independent gastroenterology practices. Dr. Kaptik and Mr. Rubin will report on a series of legislative battles that have arisen over the past year in California, Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Washington. This session will also draw on the experiences of DHPA physician leaders who were “in the trenches” for various of these state legislative battles and will offer concrete examples of how DHPA members can help mobilize multi-specialty advocacy efforts in support of independent practices in their own States.

3:45 pm – 4:00 pm: Recap of Goals & Priorities for 2024-2025
