Twenty-Two Leading Physician Organizations Join Forces to Propose Stark Law Reforms

The Digestive Health Physicians Association (DHPA) joined 21 other leading physician organizations in sending a letter to the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance  and the U.S. House Committee on Ways and Means with policy recommendations for modernizing the Stark Law. The coalition proposed updates to the Stark Law that are necessary to align it with the recently passed Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act and to keep pace with changes to how health care is being delivered. The comment letter also argues that narrowing or repealing the in-office ancillary services exception would be an obstacle to modernizing the Stark Law and make it even more difficult to provide integrated health care delivery.
