Washington DC – Dr. Nadeem Baig of Allied Digestive Health in New Jersey has been named president and board chair of the Digestive Health Physicians Association (DHPA). Dr. Baig and members of DHPA’s 12-member executive committee will lead the association’s health policy efforts to promote and preserve accessible, high quality and cost-efficient gastroenterological care in the independent medical practice setting.
DHPA comprises more than 2,600 physicians in more than 100 independent gastroenterology practices in 41 states.
“Under the leadership of previous presidents, DHPA established itself as the voice for independent GI practices and the patients we serve. I am honored to have the opportunity to build upon their leadership,” said Dr. Baig. “I look forward to working with my DHPA colleagues to promote and protect independent GI practices and the care we provide to our patients.”
Dr. Baig most recently served as treasurer of DHPA. He succeeds Dr. Naresh Gunaratnam of MNGI Digestive Health, who will continue to serve on the DHPA executive committee as immediate past president.
“Dr. Baig has been deeply dedicated to DHPA for many years, giving his time and energy to advancing our mission across nearly every part of the organization,” said Dr. Gunaratnam. “His commitment to the organization and to private practice gastroenterology made him the obvious choice to lead DHPA as president, and I look forward to working with him in his new role.”
The DHPA board of directors also appointed a new slate of DHPA Executive Committee members. Dr. Pradeep Bekal of Gastro Health Ohio has been named vice president; Dr. Roderick Kreisberg of Capital Digestive Care has been named secretary; Dr. Lisa Mathew of South Denver Gastroenterology has been named treasurer; Dr. Peter Margolis of University Gastroenterology has been named chair of health policy; Dr. Supriya Rao of Integrated Gastroenterology Consultants has been named chair of communications; Dr. Sudha Nahar of Allied Digestive Health has been named chair of diversity, equity, and inclusion; Dr. Prachi Biyani of Ohio Gastroenterology Group has been named chair of next generation leadership; and Dr. Scott Ketover of MNGI Digestive Health, Dr. Dinesh Madhok of Borland-Groover Clinic, and Dr. Ranvir Singh of Digestive Care Physicians have been named as at-large members of the executive committee.
